Interstate-80Close proximity to Interstate-80 makes Aurora an attractive location for a variety of businesses that rely on easy access to roadways. Currently, more than 22,000 vehicles travel the interstate around Aurora each day. A recent 20-year plan proposed by the NDOR includes plans for the Interstate to be 6-lane from Omaha to Grand Island by the year 2020. This expansion will cover nearly 150 miles and pave the way for a convenient traffic system that is projected to carry over 40,000 vehicles daily. Legal Trucking Distance Rail ServiceThe Aurora area and Hamilton County currently have BNSF and UP lines. Many area business utilize the rail for transportation of goods such as Ethanol, crops and freight. Land along the lines are available and ready to meet your rail build needs. Highway AccessThe community of Aurora is serviced directly by one State and one Federal highway. Highway 14, a state numbered north-south highway, runs from the southern edge of Nebraska near Superior and crosses the Missouri river into South Dakota at Niobrara, Nebraska. Highway 14 offers travelers many unique attractions and experiences along its stretch through Nebraska and is a popular route for many vacationers throughout the summer months.Highway 34 is the east-west U.S. highway that provides many community residents and travelers access to other neighboring communities in the central Nebraska area. U.S. Highways 281 & 81 (turns into Interstate-29 near Watertown, SD) both stretch from south Texas to the Canadian border and are located within close proximity of Aurora. Highway 281 intersects with both Interstate 80 and Highway 34 and Highway 81 intersects with both Interstate 80 and Highway 34 just outside of Aurora. Air ServiceThe Aurora Municipal Airport has superb facilities including a 4,300' paved runway and full length paved taxiway and apron. The facility also has a pilot’s lounge, automated weather station and courtesy cars available for incoming guests. The airport is located 4 miles north of I-80 along Highway 14. The Aurora Airport is also home to many successful aeronautics businesses that provide services to customers on a national level.The Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island is 22 miles away and provides the closest commercial air service for the community of Aurora. Other commercial airports in close proximity to Aurora include: Lincoln Municipal Airport (70 miles, 1 hour), and Eppley Airfield in Omaha (125 Miles, 2 hours).
